SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY & HEALTH FAIR

Friday, March 12, 2010

McLean students will participate in a Science, Technology & Health Fair on Thursday, April 22, 2010, to encourage their natural curiosity and inquiry into scientific concepts.  Each student gets to choose a project they would like to submit for the fair.  Guidelines were sent home during conferences.  All work should be done by the student.  Parents are allowed to assist, but not to do the work for the students.  This includes typing, writing, and preparing the display boards.

The fair will be held in the gym during school hours.  We invite you to come and tour the exhibits.  A team  from the WSU Science Department will be judging the entries and awarding prizes for each classroom.  All students are required to participate.  Please put April 22nd on your calendar and plan to join us as we celebrate science!

STATE TESTING INFORMATION

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Testing time is here again! The KS State Reading Assessment is the week of March 1st-5th for all of our 3rd-5th graders. The test consists of three sections that we spread over a three day period with time built in for any make-up tests due to absences. Each section of the test takes approximately 45 minutes, but the test is not timed.  Last year, we had 90% of our 3rd-5th graders meet the cut score.  This year, our goal is to have 92% meeting standard! It’s a lofty goal, but we are confident that the teachers and the students will knock it out of the park this year. Teachers have worked diligently to prepare students all year and we know they can do it!

Math Assessments begin in April, so more to come on that!  We will have preliminary reading data by that point, so we’ll pass along that information when we receive it!
