Boogie on the Blacktop
● Next year, increase pizza quantity so more people can buy them. It was suggested we need at least 10-15 more pizzas for next year. We purchased the same number as 2024. Handing cookies out rather than bagging them went faster.
Texas Roadhouse Luncheon (during Fall Conferences)
● The baked potato bar went very well. We got lots of food and the staff was very appreciative. Thank you to all who donated items!
October Spirit Nights
● Freddy’s Frozen custard - about $60 profit. We were unable to send a Parentlink to remind families about this since the site was down. This may have affected participation.
● Skate Night - around 45-50 kids participated. We thought this was good attendance considering it fell on a non-school day.
Book Fair
● Great volunteer turnout. Two cash registers this year so that helped during check-out. Things went very smoothly. Sales, $4,000+, Earned $2,000+ Scholastic dollars. Used a portion of the Scholastic Dollars for books for the classrooms and birthday books. The remaining Scholastic Dollars will be used to buy more library books. Compared to last year, takings were pretty much identical to last October's book fair. The next book fair will be in February 2026 during Conferences.

● Jan. 29 - Panera Bread 8:00 am - 8:00 pm @ N Maize Rd location

Other Reports
Book fair update
- Missed a day due to snow. It was below the threshold for getting back scholastic dollars. We earned basically half of what the fall one made.
Spring Fundraiser update – Ice Cream Social – Friday 11th April, 4 - 6.30pm
We asked the teachers for item ideas for their themes for the baskets. Reminder forms will go home before spring break. Items should be at school by the 28th. Baskets will be packed on April 1st. Pricing structure will be changed a bit this year to alleviate extra tickets being filled out and streamline the process to make it easier for everyone. Group input on how to make it easier was very helpful. PTA will purchase ice cream. Need volunteers for toppings and set up/clean up.
Spirit Nights –

- May 1st - All Star Sports 5-8pm

New Business (10 min)
Field Day - May 10th
Purple Tye Dye shirt design has been chosen for field day t-shirts. Tabitha Tolle will help this year and will potentially take it over from here.
BOGO book fair
This isn’t done every year and it isn’t a profit as far as scholastic dollars for the school, but it’s a benefit to kids because it’s BOGO. Does anyone feel strongly about having this or are we okay not doing it again. Field day was when it was proposed. It was also suggested to do it on the ice cream social, but don’t want to take away from money spent on baskets. April 29th may be a better option since there are no other items that families would be spending money on that night. Barnes and noble spirit night was brought up as an option to look at. Not sure if it would be beneficial.
Teacher Appreciation Week – May 6-10th
Need Volunteer Leader
Luncheon provided by PTA on Wednesday - Lisa Vogel’s husband, Frank, will smoke pork again. Sign-up for sides will be available at April meeting.
Officer Selection Committee
We have had some people who are interested. In April, we will announce those who want a spot. In May, we will vote.
We talked about a possible get together over the summer for kids. Maybe at Twin Rivers Swim Club. $5 per guest. Maybe a family night to earn. Or something at the YMCA. A park was brought up or the splash pad at Evergreen.
Next Meeting – Tuesday, April 9th
Random gift card winner this week is Kristine Niles. $10 Starbucks.

Executive Reports
Principal’s Report – Tina Young
She went over attendance incentives. Individual rewards were given, which was a Jason’s Deli gift card. Family engagement. Lots of parents at reward ceremony today and some upcoming events are scheduled. Not a Paper Roll and Valentine’s Day Celebration. Went over building WIGs. Academic, Social/Emotional, and Safety and Belonging. She also talked about the 2024-2029 Strategic Plan for Student Success. She sends scoreboards to the teachers each week to make sure she stays on track with her goals. She also went over the Facilities Master Plan and upcoming bond vote.
President’s Report – Claire Kelderman
Went over recent passing of Mrs. Nicks mother. The PTA sent a gift. There are PTA policies and procedures that allocate money to be able to be given on the death of a close relative of a faculty member/student/board member.
Treasurer’s Report – Lindsay Miller
Teachers have been using some more of their allotment and we’re still encouraging them to use those funds before the end of the school year. Went over read-a-thon and Freddy’s earnings. Little Caesar’s Fundraiser is currently going on as well. There is a new request for a mini grant from Mr. Doornbos. He is requesting $341.34 for foam balls he uses in PE. Shannon Proffitt motions to approve. Tabitha Tolle seconds the motion. Motion for mini grant is approved. Nurse Amy needed some supplies (pants etc) that the PTA purchased for her. $100 was spent. Since this is ongoing, is this something we should add as an allocation for next year? The clothing isn’t something she can get covered by any other funds. We would like to add this to the proposed PTA budget for next year.
New Business/Upcoming Events
- Little Caesar’s Fundraiser – Feb 1st – 13th

- Book fair – Set up Friday 7th, runs 10th - 13th February
- Book fair will be set up this Friday. It will run next week.

- There are a few spots left to volunteer and you get a $10 discount on books at the fair.
- Staff Luncheon – February 12th
- Still needing some items there and we will send out a school wide message soon to try and get some more people signed up.

- Spring pictures – February 25th
- Blood Drive – March 10th 12pm-6pm
- They do some education about the process and opportunities to donate and how it helps the community.
- STEMusic? Fall 2025
- New opportunity for a presentation by STEMusic. An aircraft engineer from Spirit has started this program. K-2 and 3-5 would be done separately. The cost for both presentations would be about $1750. He has gone to other schools in the district. He is local to our community and well known. He is interesting and engaging to the students. Are we interested in proceeding and scheduling this for next fall? A decision will need to be made soon so it can be booked for fall. Went over some details of the budget and that there would be enough to cover that and providing a t-shirt for every student next school year like we did this year. We would like to re-visit this next month and take a vote.
Volunteers/New board members needed
- Carousel Skate night – March 7th
- We need a volunteer to help sign kids in. Sarah Milligan has created a wonderful how to list and tally sheet to make that easy to do. Tabitha Tolle volunteered to do that. Shannon Proffitt said she will help as well to help catch everyone.
- Spring Fundraiser – April 11th
- Ice cream social. We will do baskets, and experiences again.
- Board positions – President, Secretary, Treasurer
- President position can have 2 people do it together. More things can be delegated as well. Claire guesses around 4 hours a month for the core duties. The secretary position takes meeting minutes and sends emails. Treasurer position does not need to be someone who is good at math and probably needs to be one person and not shared.
- Tabitha Tolle is willing to share the President position or take on the treasurer position alone.
Next Meeting – Tuesday, March 11th 6.30pm
